At the age of 8 I started playing the flute and after three years became accepted at the Special Talents Academy for young people at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. There I was able to study with well known flutists such as Andras Adorjan, Emille Biessen, Emily Beynon, Trevor Wye, Patricia Morris and others. I have played as a soloist and principal flutist with orchestras, such as the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands, the Hague Philharmonic orchestra, the Bach orchestra of the West Netherlands and i am a member of the Passe Partout chamber orchestra. I have considerable experience in the education sector, both a specialist in classical flute and general primary school music educator. Most importantly, I have a great passion for music, love to teach people and make music together.
I have over 20 years of teaching experience at music schools, music clubs, private students and orchestra members, teaching people between the ages of 8 to 60+ and of all levels. I have mentored students auditioning for conservatoires and taking exams in both practical and theory and have a 100% success rate.
My teaching style has a very personal approach and you will be taught in a very homely environment. I will listen to your wishes and together we choose a method and set your goals. I am a great believer in playing together besides playing solo. I will play with you or accompany you with piano or cd, but above all I will teach you to make music, understand it and soon you will be able to play that lovely melody in your head all by yourself.
